Rap with less of the rugged and more of the respect. Mild-mannered British rapper Ty brings clever, mature themes that grapple far beyond the usual shot-callers involved in rap music. Not short on experience, he began recording during the mid-'90s, and appeared on tracks produced by IG Culture's New Sector Movement, MC Mell 'O', DJ Shortee Blitz, and DJ Pogo. He also hosted a hip-hop night called Lyrical Lounge, and worked with the Ghetto Grammar poetry workshop. Ty's debut released on Big Dada in late 2000 with the single Break the Lock which saw him breakthrough with bars beyond his years. His highly-anticipated full-length, Awkward, appeared early the following year and earned kudos from dozens of musical sources. Now, having released his silky smooth, funk, RnB and groove-ridden hip-hop around the world, he's taking his practised live show to Brighton's party place, Patterns.
